2. Topic/Scientific Question:

What is the best diffuser for portrait photography?

3. Hypothesis: if we use different types of household objects as diffusers, then will we be able to properly expose a good photo

4. Materials List: tri-fold, paper, glue,

5. Equipment List: diffusers, camera, different objects, tripod, white paper, cloth, plastic, water

Basic Flash Concepts

FLASH FACTS
  • With every flash photograph there is two exposures in one
  • there's an ambient exposure and a flash exposure
  •  Fill flash can be used to eliminate silhouettes or shadows, when the subject is back lit or side lit
  • flash exposure is not affected by shutter speed.
  • the flash exposure and the range of the flash will be affected by the aperture and ISO settings
  • the flash illumination is really affected by distance ( flash falloff)
  • the camera measures ambient light and flash illumination separately
  • the flash illumination is measured after the shutter button is pressed and the flash output is adjusted, this is when you have automatic flash metering
  • Every SLR camera with a mechanical shutter box has a maximum flash sync shutter speed (this is important to know when you are trying to utilize a specific shutter speed to stop action) For Canon DSLR, 1/200 or 1/250
  • you can eliminate harsh lighting, washed out subjects and red eye  using diffusers and light bouncing
  •  it is possible to change the order of when the flash fires using "rear curtain sync"
  • removing the flash from the top of the camera helps eliminate red eye and unflattering shadows

New Tutorial

1. I would like to do great blue hour photography

2.

3. The equipment  or requirements needed to get this results are
  • By shooting at blue  hour
  • Adjusting the white balance
  • Changing the color in post-processing
  • Using a colored filter on your lens
  • tripod
  • raise ISO
  • maybe shoot in RAW mode
4.
  1. To get the effect wanted it is necessary to shoot during blue hours which would be before sunrise and just after sunset
  2. get a tripod ready
  3. have your setting right( iso, white balance )
  4. you can also use a color filter for you lens
5. You would want to have you position ready because of the short time the blue hour last, again have the settings ready and maybe a flash in case that it's too dark

6. It would be more preferably to shoot in RAW mode because its more flexible when adjusting settings in light room. You can also do more corrections to improve the colors of you photos with different layers, color, highlight/shadow, contrast. e.c.t

Year In Photos: 2014

1. Landscape photography.
2.In this photo I can see leading lines from the river leading up to the mountains, depth of field showing the range of distance and also rule of thirds because the two girls are not directly in the middle of the photo but on the lower bottom.
3. I think there wasn't any artificial lighting used since it's a landscape shot, the whole photo is very clear with good amount of light.
4. The photographer probably chose a good time to take this photo so that there would be a good amount of natural light, not too bright or too dim. Also knowing the distance he was going to shoot with in order to get all the three range levels.

1. I believe this is a photojournalism photograph.
2. You can really see rule of thirds, view point because the photographer didn't take the picture directly in from of  the religious man, framing of the armed police.
3. Since it was snowing during the event I believed that the only light use was natural and it was a situation were you probably weren't going to prepare a set.
4. The timing when the religious man stood in front of the wall trying to stop a confrontation, and also avoiding getting mergers in the photo.
1. This is black and white photography.
2. Some rules of composition I see are viewpoint because you can tell that the photographer was shooting from a lower angle, simplicity and maybe symmetry .
3. The lighting used in this photo was natural but the photographer used a filter for his camera to obtain the color.
4. Estimate the time that the elephant threw the dirt on his body.

1. Journalism Photography.
2. In the photo I see rule of thirds the doctors are position to the right side of the frame, leading lines from the wall behind them, contrast from their yellow suits and the baby blue wall behind.
3. I think that he used a flash to get the clear photo and also natural light.
4. I think the photographer used a tripod to have a good picture and angle of the shot.

1. Portrait photography
2. Framing, the ballerina standing  in the middle of the door, depth of field, leading lines from the bricks of the wall and the door and also contrast because the inside of the room is dark and outside is bright.
3. I think the photographer used mix light to capture this photo. The natural light from outside and maybe a reflector inside where he is and a lamp.
4. A pose of the typical ballerina dancing in front of a kid audience with an almost complete shadow on her.

1. Photojournalism Photography
2. Balance is shown, cropping, and contrast.
3. Natural light again, he probably didn't want to bother the wounded man with a flash, but you can also see a light source coming from the left side.
4. Waited for the moment that the daughter would kiss her father.

1.Lanscape photography
2. Viewpoint,depth of field.
3.Since it was a dim cloudy day he used low shutter speed and a high aperture.
4. the photographer used a tripod so the camera would be still and get the effect of the moving clouds look like ties.
