Newspaper Notes


  • Two sizes of newspaper
  • "broadsheet" a type of newspaper is tall and folds in the middle, The Eagle's Eye 
  • "tabloid" more squared, The Chronicle is a type of tabloid
  • photos, headlines, sub-headlines, story, date, captions, teasers
  • jumps, are in the front page telling you to continue the story in a different page
  • lines are part of layout
  • "Flag" is the name of the newspaper
  • "folio" reference information
  • headlines are complete sentences
  • attention grabbers/captions basic parts of any newspaper page
  • "by line" is the name and title of the writer
  • a "stop" tells you when the story ends
  • kickers are tags about the articles 
  • info graphic- a graphic that gives you information
